Backwoods And All....

Most of the time it's good to "bloom where you are planted", but occasionally you look around and wonder "what the fuck am I doing here?" This was the case today when I was going through some old pictures from last year. Hubby and I went out with some friends to a local "beer garden" and I decided to capture some moments, and they are just too good to keep to myself.

First, let us note the electrical tape holding together the ancient rotary phone (which seems to be missing numbers and the all important dial) and then let's swing our attention to the amplifier sitting in the corner with the cassette tapes scattered across the top! I believe this is all tied together with the vivid "Native American" decor on the shelving. No wonder they charged us a $3 cover charge, somebody has to pay for this luxury!

Now this is no lie, this is actually the sign that hangs in the ladies room (the word "ladies" being used very loosely here). As you are admiring the lovely decor that the air freshener brings to the room, be sure to note the unique spelling on the classy signage...

But I guess it was alright, because we both were pretty drunk!

After reviewing the photos, I understand why we do not frequent the local establishments very often and prefer to stay in our little zombie cave....

Reflections of the Season

Now that October has come and gone, it's time to reflect back on all the magic of the season...

I can do a lot of things, sewing is not one of them. I amazed myself making my youngest her bat costume from a hoodie and umbrella. Mind you that I used embroidery thread and hot glue...but it worked! I even whipped up some ears with tulle and a head-band...Sometimes I amaze myself!

The pumpkin was carved and set out on Halloween eve...the remembrance candles were lit and apple offering was left. (and may I add the apple was gone in the morning...yes I know it was probably raccoons, but.....)

There was plenty of time spent admiring the beauty of the season.

Then it was time to put it all away...somehow it looked like Halloween threw up in my kitchen....

Halloweens of Years Past

I love looking back and remembering past Halloween costumes. So, I decided to make a collage of some of my favorite pictures of my kiddos and friends. Although I despise some years photos with the store-bought costumes, at least the kids were happy. And that's all that really matters.

I always make sure to get duplicate copies of my prints so I have 1 to work with and 1 to keep in the album. But really, how often do you get to look at the album? With this poster size wall hanging I get to see their spooky little smiles every day of the season.
I edged it with an orange and black ribbon and throughout I added little details such as vintage Halloween images and scrapping cut-outs. So easy, and such a fun project.
